Dickson is a city located in Dickson County, Tennessee, United States. It is situated in the central part of the state, approximately 40 miles west of Nashville. The city covers an area of 20.3 square miles and has a population of around 16,000 people.

Dickson is easily accessible by car via Interstate 40 and State Route 46. The nearest airport is Nashville International Airport, which is about an hour’s drive away.

History

Dickson was founded in 1803 and named after William Dickson, a Nashville physician and legislator. The city grew rapidly in the late 19th and early 20th centuries due to the construction of railroads and the discovery of oil and gas in the area.

During the Civil War, Dickson was occupied by Union troops and served as a supply depot for the Union army. After the war, the city continued to prosper as a center for agriculture, manufacturing, and transportation.
